Your heart understood mine

Recently upon rewatching the beloved classic Little Women, one of the lines from the movie struck a chord and really resonated with our hearts.  Friedrich says to Jo, “Your heart understood mine.”

“Your heart understood mine.”

Although this was in a romantic setting, those words speak to the heart of what so many of us long for.  We long to be understood.  We deeply want to be known, accepted and loved for who we truly are.  We desire to find friendships and romantic relationships where this is the foundation where vulnerability can take place.  We feel so grateful and privileged to have experienced this in our friendship.  Because, it is so rare and hard to find friendships that embody vulnerability and authenticity, we decided to start an on-line community where we could help other women cultivate relationships like this.  The sisters in Little Women are very different from one another.  They are individually unique with their own dreams and giftings but are always each other’s champions.  They are for each other.  That place of belonging, that bond of friendship and sisterhood they share, we believe gives them the courage to push themselves and chase their dreams.

In Little Women the name of the home the sisters grew up in is called The Orchard House.  It is their safe haven for their imaginations to run wild and for the groundwork to be laid for them to each grow into the women they are to become.  The Orchard House blog is born out of the desire of our heart to not only push ourselves to grow and be stretched, but also for you our readers to grow and stretch.  We want this to be a safe haven where we all gain confidence to dream bigger dreams and step out of our comfort zones all while knowing that others are FOR us and cheering us forward.

The definition of “orchard” is the cultivation of fruit.  We want this place to be a springboard for fruit to be cultivated in our lives and yours.  We desire to provide inspiration for the whole woman in all facets of life: physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally.

So, welcome to The Orchard House!  We hope you will feel a sense of belonging here. If you are reading this for the first time, please leave a comment and let us know you stopped by!  We would love to get to know you!
